The Promontory of Portofino is the symbol of this strip of land, it's one of the famousest natural parks in Italy. Walking along its paths you can admire real treasures of nature.
The protected sea-area includes the sea around the Promontory and 3 small towns: Camogli, the town of the” tousand white sailing vessels” with a long seafaring tradition, Portofino, exclusive and prestogious resort and Santa Margherita Ligure, a refined small town with pictoresque landscapes.
The sea-area is devided into 3 smaller areas: A, B and C.
The A area is bounded by the creek called Cala dell'Oro and it's the real nature reserve.
The B area runs from Punta del Faro and Punta Chiappa with submerged reefs of great importance at the naturalistic point of view, where you can admire many kinds of sea fan, red coral and fishes like the grouper.
The 2 C areas stretch at the sides of the promontory where you can admire ranges of posidonia oceanica , rich in animal life.
